Alex Goldfarb: Press

“His words are magnificent. They are clever.
He has the rare ability to define ‘dichotomy’ in a single line. Goldfarb’s voice and guitar playing is reminiscent of Tim Buckley around the time that he recorded Starsailor or Greetings from LA. That is not to say that Goldfarb copied the long dead troubadour, Buckley’s been gone since before he was born. Goldfarb has his own style. He should be heard.”

"Not just another schmendric with a guitar…Alex will lift your spirit and set you down again dizzy and delighted…”

Magnifying Glass is an apt name for this cd; with themes of death, faith, and inspiration, the album is a scrutiny of both internal and external ideas that hint at the spirituality of its writer. Even with themes this intense, Goldfarb is able to temper them with playful, buoyant guitar lines, among other things.
Anyone who has ever tried to present their intentions by way of songwriting and solo performance has encountered the “artist against the world” routine. With no protection, you must have your show together. Fortunately Goldfarb shines in this context.
